Leia was found for sale by one of NorthStar's rescue partners in far south Texas. She and her "mate" were used as breeders and were living in crates in a yard, exposed to the heat and elements. The owners stated they could not care for them anymore. They were brought out to our partner tethered together with a piece of fraying rope. Despite the conditions they were found in, both Leia and her mate (transferred to another rescue) were in remarkably good condition and good spirits. After a quick bath, Leia's beauty became apparent and her personality blossomed. This little girl is full of spunk! She was probably toy and play deprived during the years she was used for breeding, so a whole new world has opened up for her and it's beautiful to watch. She loves to play fetch and will bring the ball back to you over and over. She gathers up all the toys from the house into one spot and then chews on them one by one. Hooves are her favorite.
